Regions facing drought, water shortages, or legacy contamination are increasingly turning to advanced water and wastewater treatment technologies. In the U.S., Trojan Technologies has deployed UV Advanced Oxidation Process (UV AOP) systems in states like Texas, Florida, Arizona, and California for potable reuse, and over 100 systems in the Northeast to remediate 1,4-dioxane, a suspected carcinogen.
UV AOP combines ultraviolet light with oxidants like hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) or chlorine (Cl₂) to produce reactive radicals that break down micropollutants and pathogens. Successful implementation requires deep expertise in photochemical and chemical kinetics, as well as careful control of water characteristics that can affect treatment efficiency.
